I am a lecturer in English at Clemson University.
I research Multi-Ethnic American literature and the intersections of citizenship, class, race, and subject formation.
I am currently working on my first manuscript, The American Dispossessed.
This project considers the process of subject formation in precarity related to state-sanctioned dispossession produced by legislation of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. Taking a local view, I theorize the “American dispossessed” intersectionally through connections in and adjacent to the greater Appalachian South. Reading contemporary novels, I address the resonances of this history of social death from the nineteenth century to today.
